Dugout Snow Shelter at 2200m Altitude - Storm, Hail, & Heavy Rain Forces Abrupt Exit!
Join me on an epic journey as I ascend to the formidable altitude of 2200 meters to construct a Dugout Snow Shelter amidst the majestic mountain landscape. Little did I know, this adventure would soon take a perilous turn.
As nightfall approached, the tranquil ambiance was shattered by an ominous weather forecast. A fierce storm, accompanied by hail and heavy rain, loomed on the horizon, casting a shadow of danger over our mountain refuge. Realizing the imminent threat, I knew that descending from this height in the darkness would be a gamble with my life.
With survival instincts kicking into overdrive, I made the split-second decision to abandon our shelter. Each step down the treacherous terrain was fraught with uncertainty, but the alternative was unthinkable - risking life and limb in the face of nature's fury.
This gripping saga serves as a stark reminder of the unforgiving power of the elements and the critical importance of making tough decisions in the wilderness. Subscribe to my channel for more heart-pounding tales of outdoor exploration and survival against all odds.

P.S. Why wasn't Kira, my dog, with me? Well, I know Kira doesn't enjoy sleeping in snow shelters. And since I had a bad feeling about the weather, I didn't want her sleeping outdoors, exposed to the elements. That's why I left her at home, by the warm fireplace.

Food ain't crucial. A man can go a long time before suffering any impairment from a lack of food. You sure stuffed your face, though. A regular gourmet meal when "caught in a snowstorm", eh? How about that?

This video captures the essence of survival in challenging conditions. The bushcraft shelter built in heavy snow is a testament to resilience and resourcefulness in the face of nature's challenges. The skills demonstrated here, from selecting a suitable site to constructing a sturdy shelter, are invaluable for anyone venturing into the wilderness during winter. It's inspiring to see how creativity and determination can turn adversity into an opportunity to thrive. This video is not just about survival skills; it's a lesson in preparation, adaptability, and respect for nature's power.

Modern tools and gear including a hatchet and folding saw. Okay why not carry a couple of butane lighters? No need to rely on tiredness, numb fingertips, a big knife, shavings, and a fire stick. Oh yeah, I forgot it’s more dramatic this way. Dramatic but silly.

yes! when i was a kid in the 70s and 80s, my mum who is an amazing cook always took herbs and spices with us when we were camping, and she was an avid photographer so she used leftover film canisters to store them. love to see this advanced level of preparation for flavour, however it manifests! 😆❤

Carry two BiC butane lighters instead. No weight. No delay. No need to shave duff and then sparks from a firestick with cold numb fingers. You are already using a modern steel hatchet, modern saw, modern clothes, boots, flashlight…. Forget nostalgia and romanticism. Use a modern fire lighter.
